So, I assume it isn't a hardware issue, and the command and "c" keys work fine by themselves. Interestingly, I created a new temporary administrative account, logged into it, opened textedit, and I could copy/paste to my hearts content using the command+c keyboard shortcut. I can also use the context menu copy/paste (control+click) without issue. But when coding php, javascript, html, css, I find that having to copy text via this route is a HUGE time waster. What could be causing that?Ĭopy/paste works fine from any of the top-bar menus (highlight text, go to menu -> file/copy). I was just watching, without pressing any keys at all. While in the Keyboard Viewer, I noticed that every 5 seconds both of the command keys would darken and go back to normal very quickly, like someone was pressing them, but I wasn't pressing them.

It's almost like something has completely DELETED the command+c shortcut from my system. Other keyboard shortcuts such as command+v, command+a, etc, register in the Keyboard Viewer. It registered the command key as I pressed it, but it would not register the "c" key when pressed in combination with the command key, yet pressing the "c" key by itself registers and the key darkens on the Keyboard Viewer as it should. About 3 days ago the command+c keyboard shortcut just stopped working and I dont know what to do or how to get it working again. I've searched all over the web but cant find any solutions to my issue. I just bought a new Mac Book Pro 17" unibody (2.8ghz) in on the 1st of this month and have been thoroughly enjoying it up until my frequently used "copy" keyboard shortcut stopped working.
